Renewable energy for productive use
The GreenEarthCitizen (GEC) has renewable energy use for productive use as one of its key areas in mobilizing finance from CSR programs. With the right mix of approaches and technological solutions, GEC works with local authorities, county governments and the corporate sector in empowering the economically disadvantaged and marginalized off-grid communities
The Solar-Nano Grid Project (SONG)
With due consideration of the social-cultural backgrounds of the communities indulged, the SONG project is one that aims at addressing energy needs among low-income off-grid communities. Basic household energy needs; such as lighting, phone charging and powering of electrical appliances such as TV sets and radios among others, are met and additionally, through the enhanced solar connectivity that the Solar Nano-Grids provide, flexibility and capacity for solar power utilization for productive use; such as small-scale agricultural food processing, is made possible.
The project goes a long way in addressing social-economic limitations among off-grid communities through effective and efficient business models, whose potential for replication and eventual up-scaling both locally and regionally is viable across community specific contexts.
